Psammochloa is monospecific. Its only species is strongly rhizomatous. Until the discovery of Nassella rhizomata in South America, it was the only strongly rhizomatous species in the tribe. It also has a 5-7-veined palea, another oddity for the tribe. It grows in sand dunes.
Psammochloa villosa. China (Gansu, Nei Mongol, Nigxia, Qinghai, N. Shaanxi, Xinjiang), Mongolia.
