Citation

I have ben asked many times how to cite these pages. I suggest two formats, depending on whether or not the treatment has been modified in a way that affects your use. If it has not been modified, or if the modification is not relevant to your use, I suggest something like the following:

Author of treatment. [Year FNA volume published]. Genus, published in Barkworth et al. (eds.), Flora of North America vol. [24 or 25, as appropriate], viewed at http://herbarium.usu.edu/webmanual on day month year.

If the treatment has been modified and the modification is relevant, the citation should be something like:

Author of treatment. [Year FNA volume published]. Genus, modified by Barkworth from Barkworth et al. (eds.), Flora of North America vol. [24 or 25, as appropriate], viewed at http://herbarium.usu.edu/webmanual on day month year.

I have usually indicated why a treatment has been modified, citing an appropriate publication (and will try to be consistent in this regard in future).

Volumes and publication dates: Volume 24, which includes the Bambusoideae, Ehrhartoideae, and Pooideae was published in 2007; volume 25, which includes all members of the Panicoideae, Arundinoideae, Chloridoideae, Centothecoideae, Aristidoideae, and Danthonioideae, was published in 2003. The full authorship for voume 24 was Barkworth, M.E., K.M. Capels, S.Long, L.K. Anderton, and M.B. Piep; for volume 25, it was Barkworth, M.E., K.M. Capels, S.Long, and M.B. Piep.
