Projects: Northern Utah Flora

In my (Mary Barkworth's) 'idle' moments, I have begun to revise and expand Shaw's flora to include more of the ornamental plants grown in northern Utah, reflect new taxonomic treatments, and include descriptions. I doubt whether it will ever be possible to justify publication of this expansion as a printed volume (even assuming that it is completed), but I will make some of the treatments available over the Internet as seems useful. Please bear in mind that this is like putting up one's preliminary notes; I am not pretending that the treatments are complete, checked out or ....

June 2, 2001: I decided that the question that has come up via UNPS concerning Asperula odorata merited getting the key to the genera of the Rubiaceae up.

March 9, 2002: Added Ericaceae so as to provide information on Erica persoluta.

May 16, 2003: Posted pdf version of modified family key. My goal has been to simplify the key by reducing the number of technical terms used. Be warned, however, that, in the end, it really does pay to learn the technical vocabulary of botany. Consider the revision a stepping stone.
