Piep: Macrofungi Checklist
Checklist of Macrofungi in the Intermountain Region
The Intermountain Region is a vast area covering Utah and most
of Nevada, as well as portions of California, Oregon, Idaho, Wyoming,
Colorado, and Arizona. Current knowledge about fungi in the region
is scant.
No official macrofungi checklists exist. The
Mushroom Society of Utah provides provide a list of species
collected on their annual fall forays. A comprehensive list is
greatly needed.
I have been compiling an accurate checklist, based on herbarium
specimens and reliable scientific literature, to aid in the development
of a usable identification guide for the growing number of people
interested in the native mushrooms of the Intermountain Region.
The checklist will be posted for downloading after checking for
inclusion of synonyms and other problems that arise from consulting
multiple sources.
The PDF document lists the sources that I have consulted. I would
welcome information on additional sources of information, either
publications or herbarium databases. Please send it to fungi@biology.usu.edu.
