VISITORS
Visitors are welcome to use the facilities of the Intermountain
Herbarium. They are encouraged to contact the staff prior to
arrival, but the Herbarium resources are generally available
during the normal business hours. Visitors bringing plant material
into the Herbarium should contact the staff before arrival so
that we may arrange for proper insect control.
Facilities available to visitors include dissecting microscopes,
floras for most of North America, standard dissecting tools,
a plant dryer, and many topographic maps. Press materials are
available if requested in advance and not needed by personnel
associated with Utah State University.
Information about the Herbarium, including hours of operation,
is posted on the World Wide
Web at http://herbarium.usu.edu/.
ACCESS TO DATA
In general, the Intermountain Herbarium is operated on the
premise that information connected with its resources should
be made widely available. We shall, however, ask those using
such resources to acknowledge their source. Those using Herbarium
resources in a "for profit" situation are reminded
that donations to the Herbarium are appreciated. Information
from the specimen database is not currently available over the
Web; we plant to change this information once we have the necessary
resources.
Detailed information about the locality of rare plants can
only be obtained by direct request to the Collections Manager
or Director.
