Anthosachne Scabra
Description
Plants perennial, loosely cespitose.Culms 25-150 cm tall, 0.6-1.7 mm thick, scabridulous, sometimes coarsely hairy.
Basal leaves: sheaths glabrous or hairy, absent or to 2.4 mm; auricles absent or to 2.4 mm long. ligule 0.2-1.2 mm long, membranous, truncate; blade 5-18 cm long, 1-7 mm wide, flat or rolled, both surfaces scabrous and coarsely hairy.
Inflorescence 9-35 cm long, with 1- 20 spikelets; middle internodes 10-24 mm long.
Spikelets solitary, tangential, not pedicellate, 15-35 mm long, with 6-12 florets.
Glumes unequal, obtuse to acuminate, veins scabrous, lower glume 1.3-12 mm long, 0.6-0.9 m wide, 3-6(7)-veined, upper glume 2-12.6 mm long, 0.6-0.9 mm wide, 4-8-veined.
Calluses usually longer than wide. Lemmas 8-20 mm long, scabrous, tapering into a scabrous awn, awn of lowest lemma (0.5)2-20 mm long, of other lemmas (3)15-60 mm long. Palea 55-90% as long as the lemma body, keels coarsely toothed, intercostal region retuse, truncate, or rounded.

Distribution
AUSTRALIA: Western Australia, South Australia, Tasmania, Victori, New South Wales, Queensland.
NEW ZEALAND: Introduced to both islands.
