Bylaws

Article 1. Purpose

The name of the organization is The International Triticeae Consortium. Its purpose is to promote communication and the exchange of ideas among those engaged in research on the Triticeae.

Article 2. Officers

  1. The officers of the Consortium shall be at least 3. They shall include a Chairperson, Treasurer, and the Program Officer. All three individuals should come from different countries.
  2. The officers shall be elected at a business meeting, to be held in conjunction with each Symposium. Officers will assume office at then end of the meeting. Members unable to attend the Symposium may vote by mail ballot.
  3. The Chairperson will preside over all business meetings of the Consortium, appoint a nominating committee, and the chairs of other committees that shall be formed, and perform all other functions customary for that office.
  4. The Treasurer shall keep all records of the Consortium, particularly those involving its funds, and will provide a full, written report on the Consortium's funds to the members at each Symposium.
  5. The Program Officer will arrange the next Symposium.
  6. In the event that an officer is unable to perform the duties of his/her position, the office shall be filled for the remainder of the term or until a special election is held, whichever is shorter, by appointment of the other two officers.
  7. Article 3. Members

  8. Membership in the Consortium is open to all. To become a member, individuals should send their name and address (including Email address, if available) to the Treasurer.
  9. There are no dues for membership in the Consortium.
  10. Article 4. Amendments

  11. 1. Proposals to amend the bylaws shall be mailed to all members at least 50 days in advance of a scheduled business meeting of the Consortium.
  12. 2. The Bylaws may be amended by a two-thirds vote of those attending a scheduled business meeting of the Consortium. Those unable to attend the meeting may vote by mail, but their vote must be received at least one week prior to the meeting.
  13. Article 5. Special meetings

  14. The Consortium may arrange special meetings whenever deemed desirable.
